Coach Derek Mitchell’s Cypress boys basketball team defeated La Salle 82-63 Friday night in the semifinals of the Bellflower Tournament.
Jared Brown scored 17 points, had eight assists and grabbed five rebounds for Cypress.
Christian Chai had 14 points, Anthony Tello, Christian Kim and Travis Degener had 11 points each for the Centurions.
Cypress plays St Francis in the championship Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Newport Harbor 79, Sage Hill 44: The Sailors (11-1) were led by Sam Barela with 25 points. He made 6 for 7 on 3-pointers and had 10 assists. Dayne Chalmers had 14 points and Robbie Spooner 10 points. The Sailors are home on Wednesday against Fountain Valley.
