Cypress boys basketball team improved its record to 18-2 overall and 2-0 in the Empire League with a 71-49 victory over Pacifica Monday night at Cypress.
Jared Brown scored 20 points, Anthony Tello had 10 points and Clifton Patterson Jr. had nine points to lead the Centurions, who were cheered on by Clipper Darrell. The Centurions had met the team’s super fan when they played at the Staples Center last month against Torrance after the Los Angeles Clippers game.
“The boys were excited to have Clipper Darrell come out to support them after meeting him when they played at the Staples Center,” said Cypress Coach Derek Mitchell.
Pacifica (14-6, 0-2) was led by Anthony Brown with 19 points and Audrel Pua with 11 points.
Also Monday night:
Tesoro 72, Laguna Hills 40: The Titans won their Sea View League opener. Matt DeAngelo had 17 points and six steals, Mike Mahlen had 10 points and Noah Honetschlager scored nine points to lead the Titans (12-4, 1-0).
