Corona del Mar’s football team will get two solid tests this weekend.
Coach Dan OShea’s team competes in a scrimmage Thursday at 5 p.m. at JSerra and on Saturday, will play in the 25th annual South County Passing and Lineman Tournament at Mission Viejo.
“This upcoming 7-on-7 tournament at Mission Viejo has long been one of the finest in Southern California,” said OShea, who led the Sea Kings to the CIF Division 4 finals last season.
Grace Brethren defeated the Sea Kings 26-14 in the title game.
“We are thrilled to participate against some of the very best teams in the Southland and welcome the opportunity to see the 2019 edition of CdM football compete on Saturday,” OShea added.
The Sea Kings will be led by the talented duo of quarterback Ethan Garbers and wide receiver John Humphreys.
The Mission Viejo tournament will be a great challenge for CdM.
Mission Viejo officials announced on Twitter that Millikan has replaced Bishop Gorman, which dropped out.
Other teams in the tournament are Mission Viejo, Mater Dei, Centennial, Vista, St. Paul, St. John Bosco, Narbonne, JSerra, Paramount, Silverado, Long Bach Poly, La Habra, Orange Lutheran, Great Oak, Servite, CdM, Capo Valley, Norco and Olympus.
