In the second game, CdM scored twice in the bottom of the seventh nning to record a 2-1 win. Jack Bolt went six innings allowing four hits while striking out six and allowing only one run. Ethan Watson came in to pitch a scoreless seventh to record the win. Â
UC Santa Barbara commit Charlie Mannon started the seventh inning with a single followed by a single by Van Sidebotham. An error on a sacrifice bunt by Ryan Zimmerman allowed Mannon to tie the game. Keller Strauss ended the game with a single to right center. Â
“I am so proud of the boys,” said CdM Coach Kevin McCaffrey. “They found a way to win that second game. Their guy shut us down all game. We were able to break through in the seventh. Our pitching and defense was great all afternoon. CVCS is a really good team with some excellent arms. We were able to get some timely hitting in the seventh. Charlie, Van, Ryan, and Keller all had great at bats and I was excited to see Keller get the game winning hit. Those were two quality wins for us.”
CdM will travel to Huntington Beach on Tuesday for a 3:15 p.m. game. Â
