Portola’s football team, making its first appearance in the post-season in its second varsity season, is seeded No. 3 in the CIF Division 14 playoffs.
The Bulldogs (9-1) will host Capistrano Valley Christian, coached by former University, Irvine and Northwood Coach Rick Curtis, Friday at Portola in the opening round. Capo Valley Christian (7-3) is the No. 2 team out of the San Joaquin League. Portola is the outright Pacific Coast League champion.
St. Pius X-Matthias Academy (9-0), the Santa Fe League champion, is top seeded; Sierra Vista (5-5), the Montview League champion, is seeded third and Vista Del Lago (8-2), the Mountain Valley League runnerup, is seeded fourth.
