CIF BOYS BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS: Second round schedule and updated brackets

After an exciting first round of the CIF boys basketball playoffs, Orange County teams are preparing for the second round on Friday.

Games are scheduled for 7 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTS AND SCORES FOR ROUND ONE

Games involving Orange County teams:

OPEN DIVISION (Pool play)

No. 7 Mater Dei (22-6) at No. 2 Centennial Corona (26-2)

DIVISION 1

Cypress, coming off a 61-48 victory over Orange Lutheran is on the road to face top seeded Windward, which defeated Loyola 72-52.

Also in Division 1, fourth seeded JSerra (22-7) hosts Canyon of Anaheim (20-9).

DIVISION 2A

Pacifica Christian (21-7) is on the road to face Mira Costa (19-8), Sonora (24-4) hosts Lynwood (18-10), Los Alamitos (19-10) hosts Palm Springs (23-3). Crean Lutheran (16-10) is on the road to face No. 2 seeded Oxnard (27-1).

2AA

La Habra, coming off a 55-47 victory over Tesoro in the opening round, hosts Santa Clarita Christian (20-5). Capistrano Valley (26-3) plays at Fairmont Prep (20-8) in another big 2AA game. Mission Viejo (24-5) hosts second seeded Heritage Christian (25-4) and Capo Valley Christian (14-15) is at Compton (19-9).

3A

Fountain Valley (16-8) hosts Temple City (19-9) and Yorba Linda (18-11) is at Heritage (15-12).

3AA

Portola, coming off a 62-42 victory over Dana Hills, gets to play at home again, vs. top seeded Providence of Burbank (22-6) while Laguna Beach (21-7) is at Hart (16-12).

4A

Kennedy (14-11) is at top-seeded Oakwood (21-3) and Buena Park (21-6) hosts Don Lugo (16-13).

4AA

Sage Hill (12-16) hosts second seeded Oak Hills (21-6).

5A

Los Amigos (19-8) is at Vasquez (12-11), Brethren Christian (19-5) is at Fillmore (10-11) and Rancho Alamitos (14-12) hosts Nordhoff (16-7).

5AA

Santa Ana will play its second consecutive game on the road. The Saints (15-12) will play at Arrowhead Christian (13-12). Second seeded Estancia (26-3) will play at Excelsior Charter (19-7).
