Century High’s boys basketball team captured its third consecutive league title Monday night, defeating Savanna 59-51 in an Orange League game at Savanna.
Rigo Ramirez scored 17 points, Eduardo Sorto had 14 points, Damian Martinez 13 points and Luis Moran 12 points.
“It’s been a year of adjustments,” said first year Coach Andres Hernandez. “Our guys hate to lose and keep stepping up to the plate every time we are challenged. Extremely happy for our guys, especially our seniors, four of which were varsity players as freshmen.”
Century led 24-23 at halftime. Savanna played a condensed zone and the Centurions struggled shooting the ball early, Hernandez said.
But Ramirez hit three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to give Century a cushion.
The Centurions (18-8, 9-0) wrap up league play Wednesday hosting Magnolia at 7 p.m.
