Corona del Mar’s football team begins practice this week in preparation for its season opener with Downey on Friday, Aug. 23, at Newport Harbor.
The Sea Kings were 11-2-1 overall last year and shared the Sunset League title with Los Alamitos after posting a 4-0-1 league mark.
Coach Dan OShea’s team advanced to the CIF Division 4 finals, losing to Grace Brethren 26-14 in the title game.
The Sea Kings also have home non-league games Friday, Sept. 13 and Thursday, Sept. 26 against San Clemente.
CdM opens Sunset League play on Thursday, Oct. 3 at Huntington Beach.
The Sea Kings will be out to bring home their sixth CIF football title.
