CdM, Godinez, CVC and Laguna Beach boys basketball teams capture victories

Corona del Mar’s boys basketball team captured a 78-67 victory over University Wednesday night in the Beach Bash Tournament at CdM.

Jack Stone scored 28 points and Jack McKenna had 19 points to lead the Sea Kings (5-1). McKenna had five 3-point field goals.

CdM faces Pacifica Christian Thursday night at 7:30 at CdM.

University fell to 3-8 overall.

Godinez 69, La Quinta 40: The Grizzlies (4-3) had a balanced scoring attack let by Andrew Valdez and Joseph Lopez. 

Godinez’ next game is Friday night vs. Fullerton. The game will be played at Godinez and is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Laguna Beach 59, Portola 32: The Breakers advanced into the semifinals of the Gary Raya So Cal Elite and will face Colony Friday at 7 p.m. at El Dorado High. Willie Rounaghi scored 23 points and Nolan Naess scored 19 points to lead Laguna Beach (7-3). Jeffrey Chen led Portola (2-7) with eight points.

Colony 70, Woodbridge 38: In the Gary Raya So Cal Elite Classic, Colony (6-2) was led by Brenton Knapper who scored 20 points. Woodbridge (0-9) was led by Nygle Williams with 12 points.

Capo Valley Christian 69, Higley (Ariz.) 55: Addyson G’Bye had 28 points and five steals to lead Capo Valley Christian at the Eagle Classic.

Saddleback Valley Christian 61, Newport Harbor 57 (OT): Gavin O’Neil had 22 points and Aidan O’Neil 18 points to lead SVC (5-0) in the St. Margaret’s Tournament. Levi Darrow scored 22 points to lead Newport Harbor (8-3).

Kennedy 51, Century 47: Century was led by Rodrigo Ramirez with 16 points, Tyler Thomas with 10 points and Damien Martinez with nine points.
