Corona del Mar’s baseball team clinched the Wave League series against Newport Harbor, capturing a 6-2 victory Thursday at CdM.
CdM, coached by Kevin McCaffrey, had already clinched the division title on Tuesday.
Nico DiFerdinando and Blake Butcher each hit three-run home runs for the Sea Kings (17-5, 7-1). Matt DeCrona (5-2) got the victory, allowing four hits and one earned run 4 1/3 iunnings. Butcher got the save going 2 2/3 innings striking out three and allowing one hit.
The teams wrap up their series on Saturday at Newport Harbor.
