Corona del Mar’s baseball team pounded out 12 hits and captured an 8-1 victory over San Juan Hills in the final game of the Newport Elks Tournament Friday.
CdM improved its record to 5-0-1.
Ryan Borquez (1-0) came into the game in the third inning and tossed four scoreless innings giving up three hits and striking out three to record the win.
Matt DeCrona, Nolan Dunn, and Reece Berger all had two hits for the Sea Kings. Blake Butcher had a key two-run single.
Also Friday:
Beckman 15, Garey 2: The Patriots exploded for 10 runs in the first inning of the tournament game and were in control after that.
Andy Park had three hits for the Patriots (14-2) and Alec Gomez drove in three runs.
