Capistrano Valley Christian’s football team secured an automatic bid to the CIF playoffs and set up a showdown with St. Margaret’s next week for the San Joaquin League championship with a 29-8 victory over Saddleback Valley Christian Friday.

Capo Valley Christian (7-2, 2-0) has won six in a row.
Quarterback Tyler Henry led the Eagles completing 9 of 14 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns along with 60 yards rushing on 10 carries.
Henry also scored one touchdown on a keeper and added a two-point conversion as well.
Henry stepped in on defense to record five tackles and two passes broken up to help keep SVC out of the end zone in the fourth quarter.
Simeon Marton also played a key role on both sides of the ball as he locked down SVC’s top receiver on defense, and hauled in five passes for 88 yards and one touchdown on offense, bringing his season touchdown total to 17.
The Eagle defense turned the Warriors away on several fourth downs throughout the contest and Peter Kelso had his second interception in as many games to set up the Eagle offense in great field position.
Other standouts on defense were Jeremie McGurn (12 total tackles), Dylen Roberts (nine total tackles), Josh Sears (six total tackles) and Nathan Boyce (five total tackles).
Rome Demongin went over the 1,000 yard mark (1,004 yards on 138 carries, 7.3 yard average) as he led all rushers with 79 yards on 13 carries.
Roberts had three key receptions from his tight end position and scored on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Henry in the first quarter.
The Eagles jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 3-yard touchdown run by McGurn and added to the lead on the pass from Henry to Roberts to make it 14-0.
The score remained 14-0 at halftime as the CVC defense turned back SVC on fourth down late in the second quarter on a sack by Michael Longfellow. CVC scored quickly in the third quarter on a 32-yard scoring strike from Henry to Marton to make it 21-0.
SVC answered with a quick drive of its own, and the two point conversion cut the lead to 21-8. Henry’s 3 yard touchdown at the beginning of the fourth quarter on a quarterback keeper and his two point conversion run sealed the victory for the Eagles.
