Capistrano Valley Christian’s girls basketball team celebrated its first CIF title Saturday night, defeating Desert Christian Academy 70-24 on the road in the 5AA championship game.
Capo Valley Christian was the runner-up in 1997.
Senior Halle Sii scored 25 points and sophomore Mariah Streeter added 21 for the Eagles (17-6). Head coach of the team is Dom Freeman. Assistant coaches are Gabby Kaiser and Alyson Doherty
“I am so happy for Coach Freeman and his team,” said CVC Athletic Director. Eric Preszler. “He came to CVCS just as COVID hit and found a way to build a sustainable program when we didn’t even have a team in 2019-2020. The future is bright for CVCS girls basketball.”
The Eagles will compete in the state tournament beginning this week.
