Beckman pitching star Trevor Ernt commits to play Division 1 college baseball at San Jose State

Beckman’s Trevor Ernt has committed to play baseball at San Jose State.

Beckman left-hander Trevor Ernt announced on Twitter Tuesday that he has verbally committed to play Division 1 college baseball for San Jose State.

“I’m excited to announce I am going to further my baseball and academic career at San Jose State,” Ernt wrote on Twitter. “I want to thank my parents, coaches and teammates for their support along the way.”

Ernt was 9-0 with three saves last season for the Patriots who reached the CIF championship game. In 52 innings, he allowed just five earned runs and had a 0.673 ERA. He had 49 strikeouts and walked just nine.

He is now preparing for his senior season with the Patriots.

“Trevor had the best statistical season in Beckman baseball history last season, and he has  been getting better ever since last June. I call him the old gray mule because he just keeps delivering consistency.

“Now that he is a senior, he has emerged as a leader of the whole pitching staff. The kid just knows how to pitch, and he also has a true desire to get better every day.

“San Jose State is a great fit for him. I am looking forward to watching his career in college, but I’m not ready to see him go yet.”
