Corona del Mar’s baseball team improved its overall record to 2-1 with a 9-1 victory over Kennedy Thursday in a Newport Elks Tournament/Foothill Division game at CdM.
Keller Strauss went 2 for 3, Nick Rottler was 1 for 2 with a grand slam and Kieran Sidebotham was 2 for 3 to lead the offensive attack. Strauss and Sidebotham also homered. Nico DiFerdinando was 3 for 4 for CdM.
Matt Wilks (1-0) got the win on the mound (1-0). Jennings Torgelson and Nico DiFerdinando combined for three scoreless innings in relief.
Trabuco Hills 14, Paramount 5: The Mustangs recorded a win in the Newport Elks Tournament. Marcus Weinzimer was 1 for 2 with a grand slam in the second inning and four RBI.
Jake Naso was 3 for 3 with a double and two RBI, Jack Korthals was 1 for 3 with a double and two RBI and Caleb Oddo was 1 for 1 with a double, RBI and a walk.
Daniel Gaggiano pitched four innings, stuck out six and allowed three hits for the Mustangs.
