The Eagles’ Rome Demongin scored on the first offensive play of the game as he took the handoff and exploded for a 72-yard TD after his offensive line opened a sizeable hole.

Keppel came back to tie the game 7-7 but the Eagles went ahead 14-7 when Tyler Henry connected with tight end Dylen Roberts for a score.

Keppel scored again to make it 14-13, but CVC went on to score 28 points in the second quarter to break the game open.

Henry completed 10 of 17 passes for 157 yards and five touchdowns. He has completed 65 percent of his passes.

He connected with Roberts twice and Simeon Marton three more times, to run his season total to 13 touchdown passes. He has only three interceptions. Marton led all receivers with eight receptions for 105 yards to go with his record-breaking season total of 13 touchdown receptions.

Rome Demongin, behind the blocking of Josh Sears, Michael Longfellow, Cole Flynn, Noah Olson and Stefan Purgason rushed for 205 yards on 19 carries and three touchdowns.

The Eagles had 285 yards rushing to go with their 157 yards passing in another balanced attack.

The defense stepped up and shut out the Keppel offense for the final three quarters. Pablo Moser led the way with two interceptions to turn back any Aztec thoughts of getting back into the game in the second half.  Roberts again led all tacklers (seven solos, one assisted) while the defensive line put constant pressure on the Aztec passing game.

Kaden Manrique had seven unassisted tackles, Demongin had two tackles for a loss, and Nathan Boyce added a key sack on a 3rd and long situation to go with his six total tackles for the game.

Hunter Long (four solo tackles), Longfellow, Sears and Olson were standouts on the defensive line. Noah Richie completed the scoring when he recovered a fumble and returned it 80 yards for a touchdown.

Coach Rick Curtis’ team has a bye next week.
