Godinez High’s softball team is off to the CIF finals for the first time in school history.
The No. 2-seeded Grizzlies defeated Culver City 5-0 on the road to advance into this weekend’s CIF Division 4 finals against El Segundo at Deanna Manning Stadium at Bill Barber Park in Irvine. The game will start at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Natalie Carlos led the Grizzlies getting the victory on the mound. She also blasted her first home run over the center field fence and the second one over the right center field fence.
Carlos retired the final three batters in order to get the win.
