UC Irvine’s men’s basketball team, which has a two-game lead in the Big West Conference standings, brings an eight-game winning streak into Thursday night’s home game with last place Cal Poly at the Bren Events Center.
The game begins at 7 p.m.
UCI is 22-5 overall and 10-1 in the Big West while Cal Poly is 5-18 and 1-9.
The Anteaters hold a two-game lead in the conference standings and have swept three conference series (UCSB, Hawaii and Cal State Fullerton).
UCI has six wins over three of the four next best teams in the standings.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness, Thursday night’s game will be a “Pink Game.” The men’s basketball team will be wearing pink gear and fans are encouraged to wear pink too.
Fans attending will receive a Together We Zot bracelet courtesy of UCI Health (while supplies last).
UCI has won 22 of its first 27 games, the Anteaters’ best start in the Russell Turner era and the best since the 2000-01 team started 24-3. The 2000-01 went on to finish 25-5 on the season
The Anteaters are riding an eight-game winning streak, tying their longest streak in the Turner era, set initially during the 2016-17 season. One more win would give UCI its longest win streak since the 2000-01 team won 13 in a row.
