Erika Maggard of Woodbridge brings the ball up the court.
Woodbridge junior Erika Maggard, a third-year varsity player for the Warriors girls basketball team, has joined the 1,000 point club in her career.
She reached the mark in a game on Jan. 15 against Portola and now has 1,041 points with four games left in the regular season.
Maggard has been a starter in all three years at Woodbridge, according to Coach Keith Clarkson.
“She has owned a starting spot all three years of her high school career,” he said.
“This season Erika has lead the Warriors in both scoring (19.8 points per game) and rebounding (6.8 rebounds per game). Not only has Erika lead us on the court, she has also lead us off the court. Erika was named our team captain back in August and has taken on that role as a leader.
“This year’s team is very young and inexperienced and Erika has taking it upon herself to be a role model both on and off the court.”
Woodbridge (8-14, 2-4) plays at Northwood on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 5:30 p.m.
