Costa Mesa’s baseball team clinched the outright Empire League title with a 7-2 victory over Laguna Hills Friday at Laguna Hills.
It’s the third consecutive league title for Coach Jim Kiefer’s program.
Will Morales pitched six innings, allowing six hits and striking out seven to get the win for Costa Mesa (20-7, 9-3). Wylan Rottschafer was 1 for 2 with a double, run scored and two walks; Grady Jackson was 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBI and Ben Quintero was 2 for 4 with a home run and an RBI.
Costa Mesa came into the game with a lead over second place Fullerton, which lost to Ocean View 7-4.
The Mustangs won the Orange Coast League championship in 2024 and the Golden West League crown in 2025.
