Schedule and scores for Luis Macias Tourney, boys basketball highlights from Friday

LUIS MACIAS TOURNAMENT

IRVINE 58, SAN JUAN HILLS 56 (3 overtimes): Jalen Yim and Chase Brito each had 18 pointsand Holden Stearns 15 points to lead the Vaqueoros (2-1). Irvine plays El Dorado Saturday at 11:40 a.m. at Santa Ana to wrap up the tournament.

San Juan Hills (1-2) was led by Cameron Goltara with 29 points and Rocco Jensen with 17 points. San Juan Hills wraps up the tournament Saturday at 10:20 a.m. vs. Dana Hills.

Finals:

Chino Hills 53, San Clemente 53

RUMBLE ON THE HILL

UNIVERSITY 55, MAYWOOD ACADEMY 28: Uni opened up a 28-point lead over Maywood Academy late in the first half to coast to a win at Fullerton High School in the consolation bracket of the Rumble on the Hill Tournament.

With a bucket at the buzzer ending the first half, Maywood Academy outscored University, 21-20 the rest of the way and Coach Leonard Romero was pleased with his team’s second half performance.

University (1-3) picked up its first victory of the season and was led again by junior forward Abdallah Shami with his second consecutive double-double: 12 points and 13 rebounds (seven offensive).

Senior center Kaden Moss had a career high 10 points off the bench. Sophomore center Lucas Haun chipped in with nine points and six rebounds. Sophomore point guard Connor Cao had an impactful floor game with seven points, three rebounds, five assists and six steals. Freshman guard Aiden Kim had four points, five rebounds and three assists in his first varsity game.

Maywood Academy’s top scorer was senior James Calderon with a dozen points, including three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. Senior guard John Simon added six points.

JSERRA 64, CANYON 55: The Lions were led by Earl Bryson, who had 18 points. Godschoice Eboigbodin added 15 points and Jaiden Bales 11 points.

NON-LEAGUE

CYPRESS 66, LOS ALAMITOS 55: “Cypress and Los Al were trading blows in the cross town rival game,” said Cypress Coach Derek Mitchell. “The game was back and forth and the Centurions came away with win.

Ryan Gov led the Centurions (2-0) in the non-league game with 26 points. Gavin Kroll and Emmanuel Igbekoyi each had three 3-pointers. Kroll finished with 15 points and Igbekoyi 13 points.

ORANGE 57, SANTA ANA VALLEY 18: Orange, coached by Jacob Rhodes, was led by sophomore Anthony Randle, who had 14 points. Junior Noah Faliano had eight points and sophomores Star Thomas and Dylan Rios six points each.
