Santa Ana College’s men’s and women’s basketball teams are headed to post-season play beginning Wednesday.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

No. 19 Santa Ana College men’s basketball team is off to the 3C2A Southern California Regionals and will hit the road to face the No. 14 seeded Allan Hancock Bulldogs (19-9, 9-3) on Wednesday night at 6 p.m.

The Dons (17-13, 7-10) are headed to the playoffs for the first time since the 2013-14 season. They finished that season with a share of the OEC title, going 16-11 overall and 10-2 in conference but exited the playoffs in the first round.

SAC has a tough test vs. an Allan Hancock team that placed second in the Western State – North Conference. The Bulldogs are also on a four game winning streak headed into the matchup.

The winner faces No. 3 East LA in round two on Saturday night.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

The Santa Ana College women’s basketball team has earned the No. 9 seed in the 3C2A Southern California Regionals and will host the No. 24 Los Angeles Valley Monarchs (14-14, 8-6) Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

Santa Ana (20-8, 7-5) finished in a tie for third place in the Orange Empire Conference standings after pulling off an upset against the No. 2 ranked Orange Coast Pirates in their last game.

The Dons clinched a playoff spot for the first time since the 2016-17 season when they posted a 16-14 overall mark and 5-7 conference record and lost in the second round.

The winner will advance to face No. 8 Cerro Coso in round two on Saturday night.
