SANTA MARGARITA 5, ST. JOHN BOSCO 3: The Eagles, who already clinched the Trinity League title, won the first of a three-game series Monday. Brennan Bauer pitched six innings, allowing no runs. Chris Saucedo recorded the save for the Eagles. Luke Johnson was 2 for 3 with two RBI and Blake Balsz was 1 for 2 with an RBI to lead Santa Margarita (20-6, 12-1).
SERVITE 3, MATER DEI 0: The Friars (14-12, 4-9) were led by Parker King, who pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and striking out four. Tomas Cernius had two RBI and Luke Wilson one RBI for Servite.
ESTANCIA 18, LEGACY COLLEGE PREP 0: The Eagles (20-5) used five pitchers in the shutout in a five-inning non-league game Monday. Estancia had 21 hits and seven doubles in the game. Estancia pitchers allowed two hits and struck out eight. Estancia returns to action Wednesday vs. Glendale at 3:30 p.m. at home.
UNIVERSITY 3, PORTOLA 1: The Trojans remained in the hunt for a CIF playoff berth with a win Monday. University Coach Wes Shaw said that Cooper Berger pitched a complete game for the Trojans (11-13-1, 6-11-1). Berger struck out nine and allowed four hits. University hosts Northwood Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. then finishes the regular season with two games vs. Sage Hill. Coaches can petition CIF for an at-large berth if they have a .500 overall record.
“We’re playing for our post-season lives tomorrow,” Shaw said.
