Nine former coaches and athletes will be honored by the Santa Ana Unified School District with their inductions into the district’s Wall of Fame on Monday, Sept. 19, according to Fermin Leal, chief communications officer for the district.
The ceremony will start at 6 p.m. at the Santa Ana Public Schools Complex, 1801 S. Greenville St., Santa Ana. Refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m.
Among the inductees are Edward Medina, former Godinez High School softball coach who led the Grizzlies to the CIF championship in 2019. It was the first CIF softball championship by a Santa Ana Unified School District team.
Medina coached at the school from 2007 to 2022 before retiring at the end of last season.

Patrick Quinn, Saddleback High School, basketball coach, 1978-1994
Kayla Stephens, Segerstrom High School, class of 2014, basketball
George Horine, Santa Ana High School, class of 1908, track and field
Donald Earl Davis, Santa Ana High School, class of 1962, football
Tony Gleason, Santa Ana High School, class of 1964, swimming
Sal Mendoza, Santa Ana High School, class of 1964, cross country and track and field.
The event is free and open to the public and registration should be made with the district by Sept. 15.
