Estancia, Foothill and Servite baseball teams capture Thursday victories

ESTANCIA 22, SADDLEBACK 2: The Eagles (20-5, 8-5) captured an Orange Coast League victory in five innings Thursday and moved into third place in the league with Calvary Chapel’s 13-5 victory over Santa Ana. Santa Ana dropped into fourth place with a 7-6 record.

Three teams from the league automatically qualify for the playoffs. Orange and Calvary Chapel are battling for first place.

Estancia’s winning pitcher was Tyler Humphries, who pitched one inning, allowing no hits and striking out one.

James De La O was 3 for 4 with four runs scored, six RBI, two doubles, three runs scored and a home run to lead Estancia offensively. Trevor Scott was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, three RBI and three runs scored, Jack Moyer was 2 for 3 with three runs scored and an RBI, Andrew Coyotzi was 3 for 4 with a run scored and two RBI and Cole Lefebvre was 2 for 5 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Estancia plays at Santa Ana Monday, then the two teams play Wednesday night at 7 at Tewinkle Park in Costa Mesa.

Estancia also hosts Whittier Christian (14-9) in a non-league contest on Saturday at 10 am.

FOOTHILL 2, SIERRA CANYON 1 (10 innings): The Knights (16-9) captured a victory at the Boras Classic Thursday. Grant Johnson had the walk-off RBI for Foothill. Andrew Parker was 1 for 3 with a home run, run scored and an RBI and Pedro Hernandez was 2 for 3. Ty Cowley, Brady Schrank and Andrew Harbour handled the pitching duties for Foothill.

SERVITE 5, CORONA 1: The Friars (14-9) captured a victory at the Boras Classic. Trevor Schmidt was the winning pitcher. Jaden Mackowiak recorded the save. Schmidt had two RBI and Aiden Avichouser and Kyle Buchanan had an RBI each.

WOODBRIDGE 4, BECKMAN 3: The Warriors moved to within a game of the league-leading Patriots with a victory at Ryan Lemmon Stadium. Click here for story and photos:
