ORANGE LUTHERAN 2, GROSSMONT 1: Orange Lutheran High School’s baseball team opened the Southern California Division I Regional tournament with a win Tuesday afternoon at Hart Park.
The third seeded Lancers move on to face JSerra Thursday at 4 p.m at JSerra in the semifinals. No. 2-seeded JSerra won its opener over No. 7 Liberty 10-0.
Karsten Bowen drove in the game winning run in the sixth inning for Orange Lutheran. Connor Patty pitched for 4 2/3 innings striking out three. Evan Miranda was also solid in relief, striking out two.
TRABUCO HILLS 9, EL CAMINO REAL 1: The Mustangs opened the Division II regional with a victory at home Tuesday. Ryan Faulks pitched five scoreless innings strking out five and was also 3 for 3 with two RBI.
Also contributing offensively were Arnie Johnson, who was 1 for 1 with a triple and an RBI, Tyler Collins, who was 3 for 4 with three RBI; Mason Molina, who was 2 for 3; and Joey Gray, who was 2 for 3.
Jordan Brown pitched the final two innings, striking out one and allowing one earned run.
Trabuco Hills lost to Thousand Oaks 3-2 in the CIF Division 2 final Saturday. Molina pitched the first six innings, striking out nine and allowing no earned runs. Drew Barrett was 2 for 4, Gray was 1 for 3 with a triple and an RBI and Nick Perez was 1 for 3 with an RBI.
La Habra, the top seed in Division V, had a bye Tuesday and opens the tournament Thursday.
