The Saints (0-2) lost to Saddleback Valley Christian 22-7 Friday night at JSerra. Saddleback Valley Christian evened its mark at 1-1 behind the play of Tate Scott, who rushed for 167 yards and one touchdown and Evan Spry, who rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns.
“The Saints had a very rough night on Friday,” said Crean Lutheran Coach Randall Reynoso. “While SVC was playing inspired football, Crean Lutheran lacked any passion or fight most of the evening. The offense performed extremely poor, turning the ball over five times and the line was not blocking like they could have.
“Defensively, missed tackles were an issue again and the unit did not wake up until the second half. Slow starts have become the norm for us. The kick game looked good, with another solid night from Connor Grace and another blocked kick and recovered fumble from our return units.”
Reynoso also looked ahead to this week’s game against CMI (0-2).
“It’s time to see what the Saints players and coaches are made of going into the week two match-up against CMI, who’s coming off two lopsided losses, but will no doubt look to rebound against the Saints,” he said.
