Placentia Punishers Pony baseball program did it again.
One year after winning the 12-and-under World Series title, the Punishers 13-and-under squad brought home a Pony World Series championship. It’s the fourth championship in five years for the program, which has won 48 consecutive games, according to Manager Nick Nunnari.
Mike Peterson and Kyle Knapp were the team’s coaches.

The team began its successful run at home, defeating Long Beach for the regional championship.
The Punishers then won the Super Region and West Zone championships over Mission City and San Fernando which earned them a berth into the World Series.
The World Series was held in Carlsbad. The Punishers opened up with a doubleheader on Friday, July 31 defeating Hagerstown, Maryland and San Cristobal, Dominican Republic. The team then beat the host Carlsbad team on Saturday and Sunday earning a trip to the championship game where it won 1-0 over Corpus Christi, Texas.
The program has not lost a game in three all-star seasons, Nunnari added.
