Irvine High’s football team notched a big road victory Friday night, defeating Dana Hills 22-9 in a non-league game in Dana Point.

The Vaqueros (1-3) had a strong finish to the game when Ethan Shank picked off a pass and returned it 69 yards to the 1-yard line.
Rian Ellis then ran it in for a touchdown with 57 seconds left.

Irvine quarterback Marc Filia connected with Jacob Haley on a 28-yard touchdown pass to put Irvine ahead 14-9. Then Filia ran in for the two-point conversion.
Filia also connected with Bryce Tanikawa on a 22-yard TD pass and then the Vaqueros made a two-point conversion late in the third quarter.
Dana Hills led at halftime 6-0.
