Fun, food and games during first Woodbridge Fall Festival at Mike Ward Community Park

Supporters of Woodbridge athletics of all ages turned out Saturday for the first Woodbridge Fall Festival at Mike Ward Community Park.

There was plenty of food and drinks and local businesses and Woodbridge teams set up booths to raise awareness and funds for their programs. In addition, there was a dunk tank where athletes got to take shots and try to dunk their favorite coach. Football coach Rick Gibson and baseball coach Ryan Brucker were among the coaches taking part.

“Our mission with the Woodbridge High School athletic organization, is to support all of our Cheer and Athletic Programs,” said Jay Lyon, president of the Woodbridge Athletic Boosters.

“We have a full Executive Committee, with Booster Reps for every sport and Cheer. As we work through our three primary Fundraisers (Woodbridge Fall Festival in October, Irvine 1/2 Marathon in January and Warrior Pride Gala and Golf Tournament in April), our focus is to raise money to ensure that our kids are equipped with the right tools to enjoy their athletic experience.

“But most importantly, we are intertwining our students and athletes, as well as their families and friends, with our local merchants/businesses and community as a whole.  The idea is to support one another, and reach out to establish new relationships and strengthen our Community.”

Lyon said the club’s focus is “reflected in our newly designed All Sport/Booster website designed by Francheska Anderson:  Woodbridgewarriors.com.”
